Tex Logan with Bill MonroeLonesome Pine RFD Bluegrass DJ, Carol Beaugard, has been keeping us posted on Tex Logan. At this time of the year, he probably needs a bit of cheering up. Christmas Carol says, "Beloved legendary bluegrass fiddler Tex Logan who composed the classic 'Christmas Time's a Coming' is in a rehabilitation center. He will be coming home after Christmas. Let's give Tex the gift of love this holiday - will you write him a Christmas card? the address is noted in this message from his daughter Jody. Wouldn't it be great if he could receive 1,000 cards before Christmas?! Please share this and let's make this the most magical time of the year for one of our best."

Tex was initially admitted to the hospital earlier this year. Then, in April, we heard he was in a rehab for physical therapy. Tex has been in and out of the hospital for a few years now and he may be able to return home for a day for Christmas with family but, he is expected to have to remain under doctors care a while longer.

Tex' daughter, Jody invites all bluegrass fans to help make this year a little happier and a bit special...

Tex Logan update....Thanks for all your well wishes. It has meant so much to us. "CHRISTMAS TIME'S A COMING AND I WON'T BE COMIN HOME....."
The social worker called me at work today. Dad is doing better but still needs balance work, real OT for coming home, and medication monitoring and stability. His anticipated discharge date is Dec. 26th. He can come home Christmas or Christmas Eve on a day pass. I think he is relieved since we all know that if you get ill on Dec 22nd (Friday) you are out of luck until the 26th. he feels better to be in a rehab facility until then.

Anyway....I know Christmas cards are a thing of the past (although Dad religiously toils over writing individual cards each year), however, I thought if his friends, mine fans, felt like sending a card for the holidays it would cheer him up. If you are so inclined...

Keep those prayers and positive thoughts coming...Jody Logan

As was his father Frank, Logan is a fiddler. He played with Mike Seeger in the late 1950s, with The Lilly Brothers & Don Stover and Bill Monroe in the 1960s, and with Peter Rowan in the 1980s. He performed on several records and international tours, and had minor roles in movies as well. Logan wrote "Christmas Time's A-Coming", a song made popular by Bill Monroe that has been recorded by many performers, including Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Sammy Kershaw, Rhonda Vincent, and Patty Loveless, among others; and "Diamond Joe" recorded by Bob Dylan. In 1969, Logan played fiddle on the Bee Gees' 1969 song "Give Your Best", released on the band's sixth album Odessa

Christmas Time's a Coming and we can all pitch in to make one of our own bluegrass pioneers feel right at home even though he may be in a rehab several miles away.
